1). Carlos Irwin Estévez better known as Charlie Sheen is a popular American actor. Sheen has played a huge part in the Hollywood industry after appearing in over a dozen films including Platoon, Wall Street, Young Guns, Eight Men Out, Major League, Hot Shots!, and The Three Musketeers.
It was a great shock to friends and family members when in 2015, he publicly admitted that he’s HIV positive but does not have AIDS.
Before his diagnosis, Sheen was known to be a chronic womanizer and party boy. In an interview with TheSun, Sheen revealed that he contracted HIV after two cases of unprotected sex.
TheMirror said the unprotected sex was with a transsexual.
While opening up on how he has been coping with the virus, Sheen revealed that he wanted to eat a bullet the day he was diagnosed. He however restrained himself because of his mother. Sheen added that after that he was given a handful of pills and told to go home.
It took him four years when he was first diagnosed before he came out publicly to make the announcement.
2). Joseph Connagh better known as CJ de Mooi is a popular British model and former Eggheads quiz show star. The media personality has been living with HIV sin the late 1980s.
In an with Eamonn Holmes on talkRadio, Connagh revealed that he contracted HIV while working as a prostitute in a bid to survive life on the streets.
On Easter Sunday April 21st 2019, Connagh cried out on Twitter that he is dying of AIDS.
He wrote: “I’ve been living with AIDS for 30 years but the agony of the last 3 years means I may not have many left. I’m outwardly healthy, still running and am staying positive I can get better.
Thank you all for your love and if I can do anything to help any of you, please just ask. CJ.”

3). Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson was an outstanding basketball player whose career ended after he announced to the world that he has HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Before the announcement he made on November 7th, 1991, Johnson was a Los Angeles Lakers point guard.
More than 25 years after the announcement, Johnson has gone ahead to accomplish many outstanding things in the sports. His wife, Cookie supported him all through the hard times and even bore more children for him although she tested negative.
Johnson remains one of the famous celebrities living with HIV.
In his autobiography, ”My Life,” Johnson said he got the virus by sleeping with different women who offered themselves to him after games. But, he revealed that he cannot identify the particular woman who gave him the virus.
4). Michael Jeter was an openly gay American actor who died on March 30, 2003. Jeter was openly gay and had a partner, Sean Blue whom he met in 1995.
He was found dead on March 30, 2003 at his Hollywood home aged, 50. His death was as a result of epileptic seizure. In spite of his HIV status, he had been in good health for many years.
5). Freddie Mercury was a great British musician and the lead vocalist of the rock band ‘Queen’. He contracted and lived with HIV before eventually dying of AIDS after many years of secrecy.
He is regarded as one of the greatest lead singers in the history of rock music. Freddie was known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range. He was also alleged to be bisexual.
He died of bronchial pneumonia at the age of 45 resulting from AIDS on the evening of 24 November 1991, about 24 hours after issuing a statement announcing that he was HIV position.
6). Robert Reed was an American actor who was gay but kept it a secret in order not to ruin his career. He died on May 12, 1992 of cancer but his doctor made it clear in his death certificate that his HIV status contributed to his death. It is unclear how he contracted the virus.
The fact that he lived as a gay man in the closet really hurt him as confirmed by Brady Bunch co-stars – Florence Henderson who spoke about Reed during a 2000 interview with ABC News: “Here he was, the perfect father of this wonderful little family, a perfect husband. Off camera, he was an unhappy person – I think had Bob not been forced to live this double life, I think it would have dissipated a lot of that anger and frustration. I never asked him. I never challenged him. I had a lot of compassion for him because I knew how he was suffering with keeping this secret.”
