Sunday Times Magazine, the largest-selling British national newspaper has released its list of UK and Ireland’s richest musicians of 2019.
Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, Adele all made the list. However, the top 10 is dominated by veterans with years of experience in music and sales.
ED Sheeran, 28 who is ranked 17th in the list of richest musicians in the UK with about £160m is now leading Adele, although still ranked as the wealthiest female artist with £150m.
Adele is placed at number 22 in the main of UK’s richest musicians.
ED Sheeran is also named as the wealthiest young musician, ahead of former One Direction stars Harry Styles and Niall Horan who are placed 2nd and 3rd on the list respectively.
Stormzy also made a debut appearance on the list with an income of about £16m. Veteran musician, Andrew Lloyd-Webber leads the pack of UK’s richest musicians of 2019 with a staggering income of about £820 million.
The 10 richest musicians in the UK and Ireland (2019):
1. Andrew Lloyd-Webber – £820 million
At 71, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Baron Lloyd-Webber is the richest musician in the United Kingdom and Ireland. A noble achiever, Webber is an English composer and impresario of musical theatre.
Today, many of his musicals continue to run in the West End and on Broadway. He has a staggering £820 million to his name.
2. Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell – £750 million
Sir James Paul McCartney, a former member of the the rock band the Beatles alongside his wife, Nancy Shevell have been ranked as the second richest musicians of 2019 in the UK and Ireland. However, the duo lost a staggering £70m and the only musicians said to have lost money in the list.
3. U2 – £583 million
U2 also formerly known as Feedback is an Irish rock band from Dublin, formed in 1976. The group is currently made up of – Larry Mullen Jr., The Edge, Bono and Adam Clayton. Dik Evans and Ivan McCormick were former members.
The band has £583 million placing 3rd on the list of richest musicians of 2019 in the UK & Ireland.
4. Sir Elton John – £320 million
Multi-award winning musician, Sir Elton Hercules John has been named in the list of UK’s richest musicians of 2019.
Elton is a famous English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer who has been singing since 1962. He has sold over 300 million records and is one of the best-selling music artists in the world.
5. Sir Mick Jagger – £275 million
Sir Michael Philip Jagger is an English singer, songwriter, actor and film producer. Sir Michael Philip Jagger is a veteran musician whose career has spanned a period of 50 years.
Jagger gained global fame as the lead singer and one of the founding members of the Rolling Stones.
6. Keith Richards – £260 million
7. Olivia and Dhani Harrison – £250 million
8. Sir Ringo Starr – £240 million
9. Michael Flatley – £204 million
10. Sting – £200 million
