Now, enough of Game of Thrones, pals. Lets get to the real Emilia Clarke.
Emilia Clarke is a British woman of partial Indian descent, born in Westminster, London, England on the 23rd of October, 1986. She is 32 years. Her father is a sound Engineer while her mother is a businesswoman. She has an older brother.
Her desire to become an actress started at the tender age of three after she saw the musical ‘Show Boat’ of which her dad was a part. The young Clarke immediately expressed interesting in acting. She is also a good singer and had said that if acting didn’t work out for her, she would have pursued a career in music.
To make her dreams come true, she enroled as a student at the Drama Centre London. Although she appeared in a number of stage productions, Clarke was still faraway from her dreams of becoming an acclaimed actress. In 2009, she made her television debut making a guest appearance in an episode of the British soap opera Doctors. She made other appearances on television which didn’t bring her the needed fame.
In 2015, she played Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys alongside legendary actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film grossed over $400 million worldwide.
Clarke was not the original actress selected to act as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. However, through a stroke of luck, the original actress penciled to take the role was dropped and Clarke was then given the role.
To say that Game of Thrones brought her international limelight is just stating the obvious. Her performance in Game of Thrones has earned her numerous nominations and awards. In 2019, Time magazine named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Also, she was named as the most desirable woman in the world by AskMen readers in 2014 and Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive in 2015.
In a recent interview with The New Yorker, Clarke revealed that she almost died after suffering two life-threatening brain aneurysms while filming Game Of Thrones. She is quoted as saying: ‘Just when all my childhood dreams seemed to have come true, I nearly lost my mind and then my life. I’ve never told this story publicly, but now it’s time.’
She then added: “If I am truly being honest, every minute of every day I thought I was going to die.”
